Here’s a guide to some of our most frequently asked questions. Feel free to contact us if you can’t find what you’re looking for. We also offer free, on-site consultations.
Yes. With a portfolio of hundreds of completed projects – from corporate to private gate installations – we can help you find a design that suits your taste. If you’re looking to add a personal touch, we can help you modify a design or custom-create a concept that fits your vision. We can also use software to superimpose a gate onto your driveway so you can preview the final product (an extra charge may apply for this service).
The design process is fun and we want you to enjoy it! Tri State Gate offers many avenues for exploring – see our blog post about Timeless Gate Designs, browse our Pinterest page or visit our photo gallery.
Yes. We custom-design gates from original concepts, and we are happy to work in tandem with your landscape designer or architect. If you choose to work directly with us, keep in mind that we do have the ability to do shop drawings using a CAD program (an extra charge may apply for this service).
Inclined driveways are a common challenge, and installation teams at Tri State Gate are well-trained in overcoming these natural obstacles. We are experts at meeting the system’s functional requirements while fulfilling your aesthetic vision. Rest assured that your installation team will be well-matched to the demands of your particular project, from the technical to the physical, and from mechanics to masonry.
Yes. We cater to all types of properties with automated entrance gates. We service residential, commercial, industrial, and gated community properties. Take a look at our project gallery featuring some of the security gates we’ve done for gated communities and industrial properties.
We install complete driveway gate systems, including stone columns, wood, iron, and composite gates, and a variety of gate automation equipment, including operators, telephone entry systems, battery backup systems, and security components. We are able to repair and maintain equipment by most major manufacturers including FAAC, Doorking, BFT, SEA, Linear, HySecurity, and many others, and have a warehouse that stocks a wide variety of equipment. If we don’t have a part in stock, we can usually order it overnight and install it the next day.
Each gate system has a unique way of being placed into manual mode. We offer on-site training for all of our customers and are more than happy to meet with you to go over the manual release procedure for your specific entry gate.
Tri State Gate offers a battery backup solution for most gate systems. If your power is lost, the backup unit will either lock the gates into the open position until power is restored, or will operate the gates normally until the battery is depleted.
If your system does not have a battery backup unit, you will need to manually release your gates in order to open or close them by hand. If you need help with this, please call our office at 914-244-0018.
We generally suggest locking your gates in the open position prior to a snow storm. This will allow your snow plow easy access through the gate area. If the gates are kept in the closed position (advisable if the gates are for deer protection), the snow plow personnel will need to shovel around the gates by hand prior to opening them automatically.
Tri State Gate offers integrated surge protection on all of our installed gate systems, and can retrofit protection to older systems. We also offer an upgraded surge protection package if you are in a high-risk location. Please keep in mind that there is no sure-fire way to protect against lightning. Tri State Gate will also coordinate with your electrician if you would prefer they install heavy-duty surge protection equipment.
Give us a call! Our office responds quickly to all calls, and we should be able to have you up and running in no time at all. If it’s after hours or a holiday, don’t worry; we have 24/7 emergency support, and can have a technician to you usually within the hour.
Yes, we do! Tri State Gate services and maintains automated driveway gate systems installed by anyone, whether it be a local handyman, electrician, or another gate company. We will even check over your gate system and provide you a list of recommended changes if we think any are necessary. No matter how many issues you have had with your system, you can trust Tri State Gate to make it right – just look at our testimonials!
Our service agreements are designed to maximize the life of your gate system and help ensure years of trouble-free operation. The plans can be tailored to residential, commercial or industrial gates, and they are always customized to meet your needs. Common items included are changing hydraulic fluid, testing the electronics, lubricating hinges and thoroughly checking the entire system.
No matter how your plan is structured, you’ll enjoy priority service if your gate breaks down – you’ll get faster service than non-contract customers. This is especially useful during emergencies such as inclement weather when many people are affected. Learn more about our service agreements.
We offer priority service for our contract customers (learn more about our service agreements). Our typical response time for contract customers is the same business day, and for non-contract customers usually next business day. If you require quicker service, we offer emergency service with a typical response time of 1 hour. These response times fluctuate based on our call volume (expect slightly slower response times right after an electrical storm, for instance).
Generally no, you do not. Our technicians are able to troubleshoot most problems at the gate location without needing access inside your home. Of course, there are times when we will require someone to be home – for example, if you have an issue with your telephone entry system, or an issue is traced to a circuit breaker located within the house.
Tri State Gate was founded in 2006, but our roots trace back 25 years. Because we are dedicated to the installation, repair, and maintenance of automated driveway gates, you can be assured that our technicians will get the job done right. We stand behind all of our work, and will not rest until you are completely satisfied.
Yes. We have worked at all types of high security commercial and residential installations, including properties secured by the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and Secret Service.
Tri State Gate offers a minimum 1-year warranty from date of installation that covers defective equipment, parts, and labor. (Exclusions include damage from lightning or other external physical causes.)
